Westminster School Board passes on motto - take our poll!

In what proponent John Briscoe called a “surprising display of unanimity”, the board of the Westminster School District failed to motion for a vote to display the motto “In God We Trust” in their boardroom.
Some background, from Fermin Leal’s story yesterday:
The 10,000-student district would be the first in the county to display the motto publicly. In January, Westminster city officials were the first in Orange County to display the words, which now stand behind the City Council dais. Cypress council members voted 2-1 last month to display the words in council chambers.
Briscoe plans to reintroduce the motion for the April meeting, and again plans a grassroots campaign to highlight the issue, especially among teachers and district employees.
Next stop on the Motto Train - Mission Viejo, whose council votes Monday in motions similar to those that passed in Westminster and Cypress.
Update: The above was reworded to better explain what happened at the meeting.

Despite Mr. Briscoe’s outlandish claims in his “press release,” it’s my understanding that the issue never came to a vote. The issued died for lack of a motion.
So it looks like the guy is misleading the press and public about a vote tally.
Would this qualify as “bearing false witness against your neighbor”?

Thanks for the clarification. I’ll note that.

No problem.
Mr. Briscoe’s attempts to mislead people into thinking there was a 5-0 vote deserve highlighting.
Someone should introduce Briscoe to a concept called truthfulness.
